Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

As a church we sponsored many Missionaries and different projects as well. This page  is designated to all things regarding Missions. We have an amazing Mission Team here at ROC. Here is a message from our Mission Team:
As the Mission Team we also will support other Projects or Mission work or organizations with some of our funding each year. This year we were blessed to give $540 each to these World  Partners projects:

1) Anti-Trafficking Project (UL10) in Sierra Leone, Africa. Where missionary Janet Nickel (with World Partners) assists individuals who have been trafficked, educates f sensitizes the Sierra Leone community of the issues regarding trafficking & its inherent dangers. The funds help the center in Sierra Leone, which helps survivors recover from their experiences & reintegrate them into the community.

2) Bicycles for Pastors (T200) which provides bicycles to discipleship leaders so they can reach many with the Gospel. Allowing them to move easier and quicker from village to village.

3) Immigrant Outreach Ministries (Harrigan) (UXY03) which helps immigrants & refugees fleeing war & crisis. The Harrigan’s offer practical help in reaching international people groups that have settled in Fort Wayne, IN. It offers incredible opportunities to share the Gospel with I reached people groups right here in their own “backyard”.

4) Christmas Toys Outreach-Medina (T711) in Mexico this fund helps cover the expenses of this project. Opening doors to the community by giving gifts to the kids @ Christmas and showing their genuine love to the people.

5) Medical Benevolence Fund (UY27) in Guinea is a fund that helps the Cluckie’s facilitate healthcare by connecting the people to the resources they need & helping them understand their symptoms & diagnoses. It provides funds for emergency care, caring for those who otherwise could not afford it & providing basic wound & burn care.

Thank you church family for your continued prayers and support of our missionaries.

Sincerely,

Mission Team

Active Missionaries

Yalunka People Group

ROC adopted the Yalunka People Group on November 26th, 1995 (almost 30 years ago). At the time we had four to five missionary couples working in Africa, ministering to the Yalunka’s. This adoption meant we would keep the missionaries and the Yalunka people in our prayers and support.

Care Net Pregnancy Center

Care Net Pregnancy Center: They currently have two locations that serve the metro Detroit community: Berkley and Detroit. They assist women and men who are facing unplanned pregnancy. They help by providing free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds that confirm pregnancy, options, consultations, and resources to support those in need. This is a non-profit medical clinic, so there is no cost to the individuals coming there for aid. They also provide after birth care for the new parent(s), parenting classes, formula and diapers for the first year. They also have a boutique with additional items that the parent(s) can earn buying bucks to “shop” at it for other items they need (clothing, car seats, bottles, formula, etc.).

Bill & Jan Craig

They are ambassadors for Christ. Reasonable Faith features Dr. Craig’s work globally as a philosopher and theologian carrying out its threefold mission: 1) To provide an articulate intelligent voice for Biblical Christianity in the public arena. 2) To challenge unbelievers with the truth of Biblical Christianity. 3) To train Christians to state and defend Christian truth claims with greater effectiveness.
Prayer requests: Pray for God’s inspiration and guidance as Bill writes a multi-volume “Systematic Philosophical Theology” and that the global Reasonable Faith Chapters will effectively share the Good News of Jesus.

Bruce and Dawn Cluckie

Missionaries with World Partners (the global outreach of the Missionary Church). They are helping the Yalunka people group in Guinea, West Africa to grow into fully-devoted followers of Jesus. The  Cluckie’s are transitioning now to life in the US. They have worked with the Yalunka’s and prepared them with discipleship, Bible training, & literacy materials, in both written and audio forms. They also assist and encourage their community with development projects.
Prayer requests: Pray for guidance and direction for Bruce & Dawn as they are transitioning. Pray for the Yalunka Christians to grow in their faith, using the materials and teachings that the Cluckie’s prepared & left with them.

Carlos and Ruth Medina

They are leading the World Partners Latino team by connecting with Latino churches to create discipleship movements and encouraging the church to make disciples. Carlos and Ruth currently live in Michigan with two of their three daughters, Sofia & Ana. Their oldest daughter, Andrea, is currently a college student  in Michigan, studying at Spring Arbor University.

Scott & Lori Crocker

Missionaries with Cru - Campus. This is Campus Crusade for Christ International in the US. Scott is the National Director for Culture & Missions and leads Cru’s campus ministry in their efforts to equip their missionaries as life-long followers of Christ. They then will cross cultures in the US and throughout the world for the sake of the gospel. His team helps to equip Cru missionaries for local ministry and in their development as current and future leaders.
Lori serves in a volunteer capacity, serving those that participate in the evaluation of new missionary applicants that are hoping to become missionaries with Cru.
Pray for Scott as he continues to devote time to an ongoing project that will help better equip Cru missionaries in their lives & ministries. Pray for the Crocker family as they face some challenges with one of their kids. Pray God will do a mighty work.

Steve & Sheila Harrigan

Missionaries with World Partners and work with immigrant refugees who have come to the United States. This Mission field is continuing to grow daily as wars and violence drive people from their homes and they seek refuge here in the States.
The Harrigan’s also connect with contacts in Africa, where they had done Mission work for many years, and do discipleship and small business training with them. They also reach communities of Muslims in Africa by implementing solar technology using things like Steve’s specially designed solar cookers.

Jessica Boshaw

She is a missionary who works in Spain with The Pilgrim House via One Collective in Santiago, Spain. Jessica helps the pilgrims who are walking through their Camino journey by helping them rest, reflect, & debrief. She also supports them by being a listening ear.
Prayer needs: for this year (2025) as the team she works with is undergoing some transitions with team dynamics and roles/responsibilities. Pray for the transition of two new teammates as they get acclimated to The Pilgrim House and the roles they will be doing. Pray for the pilgrims and the aid she and her team are able to give to them for their journey.

B & J C

B & J C (names not disclosed for safety reasons due to where they are called to be missionaries), along with their three small boys, are missionaries with SEND International. They are serving in SE Asia with their team-Team Hope. They use medicine, relationships f Biblical storytelling to build bridges and share Jesus among their Muslim friends.
Prayer requests: B - adjusting to new home, teaching students medicine and building relationships in hope that they will come to know Jesus the Messiah and share it with their own communities, medicine can be a practical way of being the hands & feet of Jesus, leading to heart transformation & Bible study; J - with finding ways to connect with people while juggling schedules of the kids, continue to ministry relationally to those around and come in contact with. That God would bring opportunities to become friends with people and share Jesus; Boy 1) being away from friends & family in US. Boy 2) continuing to meet new people; Boy 3) continues to grow, strong & healthy.

Global Initiative

The Global Initiative is a creative grant-making fund that local leaders can access for specific travel and training projects that seed new movements. An average grant of less than $1,000, the Global Initiative is a sustainable, cost-effective tool helping to raise up a generation of new disciple-making leaders around the world. This ministry allows the gospel to reach parts of the world that are unreachable.
